Day 20

Today I am thankful for weekends.  I know that sounds silly, because who isn’t thankful for weekends, but before I started working again, I really didn’t care much about weekends.  Now, however, I have a real appreciation for the time I get to spend with my family and the free-time I have available to run errands.

I also really enjoy watching the kids enjoy each other.  They play so well together and really seem to thrive on having the free time each Saturday and Sunday afternoon to let their imaginations run wild.  Since they’re both in school during the week, it’s more of a treat to spend time with each other.  Weekends have meaning again for all of us.

Day 19

Oops. I’m a day behind.

Let’s see.  Yesterday, amid the drama, I was thankful for Advil 🙂  But besides that…

Report Cards came home Friday, and Kaelin is doing very well in school.  Grading works a little differently than it did when I was in school, but she has the equivalent of straight A’s, and her report included a nice note from her teacher that said Kaelin is a joy to teach, is always engaged in classroom discussions and has a love of learning.

I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.  She’s loving school and her reading skills are really developing.  Her desire to learn is such a blessing and I hope and pray she keeps it for the rest of her life.

Day 18

Today I’m thankful that the heavy wooden shelf with the sharp corners (narrowly) missed my head as it fell while I was putting clothes away.

Sometimes a few inches can be the difference between a sigh of relief and a trip to the ER.

Day 17

Today I’m thankful for stupid awesome coincidences that work out for my benefit.  I ran out of my favorite face soap yesterday (sad teary face).  I also got a coupon in my email for said face soap yesterday (happy face!).  I still didn’t know when I was going to be able to make the trip to the store that sells my favorite face soap, but then we went to dinner at a restaurant my brother picked out for his birthday (Happy Birthday Jon!) and 30 feet from the restaurant?  Was the store that sells my face soap.

Score.

Day 16

“Today I’m thankful for my sore muscles because they remind me that I am healthy and able-bodied!”

I stole that from a friend because it’s so true.  My personal trainer just about killed me last night.  I needed it.

Day 15

Today I am thankful for XM radio.  My free trial ended today, so I was forced to realize the extent to which having so many stations at my fingers improves my 50-minute morning commute.  I renewed.  All is well.

Day 14

Today I am thankful for Starbucks.  Because the morning after one of those nights where my son decides that sleep is for weenies, I need that extra little kick to start my day.  My cherished mocha coconut frappuccino isn’t available this time of year, but on a day like today I’ll certainly take a plain old mocha frappuccino or a soy peppermint mocha … mmmm.

Day 13

Today, I am thankful for my immune system.  I’m glad that I am not prone to getting colds or illnesses very often.  Because I have one right now (Thanks, Koren) and I’ve had a headache for 2 days due to the pressure in my sinuses.  It sucks and it’s turning me into a total wimp.  But fortunately for me, this usually only happens about once every year or so.
