Christmas Elves: Day 6

28 Nov

This one was Jens’ doing. Apparently nutcrackers are cranky, and if you mess with them too much, they bite.

Christmas Elves: Day 5

26 Nov

Kaelin found her elf this morning.  She had forgotten that she left it in Koren’s closet, where the kids had watched a movie yesterday (What? You don’t watch movies in your closet?)

She was thrilled to be reunited, and Ellie is back to joining Eddie in the nighttime antics.  Tonight, they’re kind of just hanging around.

I got sabotaged halfway through this episode by my cat, who apparently thinks bobbing, dangling elves are entirely too enticing to ignore.  In fact, they’re worth going to great lengths to obtain… even after they have been hoisted several feet higher off the ground.  I learned exactly how high my cat can jump tonight… here’s a hint: it’s higher than I anticipated.

I *think* they’re at a safe height now, but I’m not entirely certain…

Christmas Elves: Day 4

26 Nov

Kaelin lost her elf yesterday.  It’s here somewhere, but she was unable to find it before bed.  Since she was not able to put her elf to bed and sprinkle it with the Magic Snowflakes, Ellie Elf was unable to come to life last night.  Therefore, Eddie Elf had to do his mischief-making alone.  Hopefully Ellie will get to join him again tonight – I’m sure they’re lonely without each other.  Making paper snowflakes isn’t nearly as fun when you have to do it by yourself.

I know this.

Madagascar Ice Sculpture Exhibit

25 Nov

Yesterday, we took our elves to the annual Ice Exhibit at the Gaylord Texan.  It’s always fun to go to the Gaylord at Christmas time … or as Kaelin, calls it, “Santa Land.”

We enjoy touring the ice exhibit each year – it’s fascinating what artists can do with blocks of colored ice.

The kids always look forward to zooming down the ice slide.

On the drive home, the kids made sure their elves were safely buckled.

Koren said that he AND Eddie had a great time, but he got pretty quiet on the drive home.  He seems to be fighting a bug or something, and the morning activity just wore him out.  When we got home, he had a mild temperature and went straight to bed.  He seemed to feel better after a 3-hour nap, and we’re hoping he can sleep off whatever it is that’s dragging him down.  This morning he’s in good spirits and his temp has gone down, but we’re making him take it easy today since we have Jens’ birthday celebration this evening.

Christmas Elves: Day 2

24 Nov

Eddie decided to check out the stockings to be sure there was enough room in there for Santa’s toys.

Menwhile, Ellie climbed the Christmas tree to be sure we had put enough ornaments on it.
